Exhibition to open at the Museum of East Texas June 12, 2025, with artist talk at 5:30

Twenty Years Waltz: Works by Kristi Rae Wilson
The Museum of East Texas is delighted to have works from Kristi Rae Wilson grace our hallway this summer. Wilson will give an artist talk on Thursday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m. and all are welcome. There is no admission fee and refreshments will be served.
Kristi Rae Wilson received her MFA in Jewelry/Metals from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign (2010). She received the Creative and Performing Arts Fellowship and the Brodie Material Grant during her years at U of I. Her work has been included in international and national publications and exhibited throughout the United States. The Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) awarded her the Educational Endowment Scholarship to participate in the Jewelry Opere Workshop (Netherlands) where she studied with contemporary jeweler, Ruudt Peters. Wilson has been an Artist-In-Resident at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (2010-2011), and a guest lecturer at Bowling Green State University (2012) and New Mexico State University (2014). For over 10 years Wilson has taught Jewelry + Small Scale Metal Construction at the University of New Mexico-Gallup.
Wilson explains, "As a traditionally trained metalsmith + third generation (self-taught) quilter, sometimes I sew and sometimes I solder. I enjoy taking things apart and repurposing the material into one-of-a-kind art jewelry. Other times, I like to fabricate + etch metal to provide a sense of permanence of the material. Collaborating with my community and family helps me to honor those who cultivate craft in their homes and on their bodies."
