Class Description

Celebrate the magic of the season with a festive field trip to the Museum of East Texas! Students will experience our beloved Festival of Trees, where beautifully decorated trees transform the museum into a winter wonderland while inspiring creativity, curiosity, and holiday cheer. Through guided exploration, students will discover how color, texture, light, and design work together to create unique works of art. Along the way, they'll complete a scavenger hunt that encourages close observation and critical thinking as they search for hidden details throughout the exhibition. The experience also includes a hands-on holiday art project that allows every student to create a seasonal masterpiece to take home, as well as a special sensory tree designed to encourage exploration through touch, sound, sight, and smell. This interactive field trip supports Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in Fine Arts, Science, English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies by promoting observation, descriptive language, pattern recognition, creative expression, and an appreciation for community traditions. Perfect for Pre-K through high school students, the Festival of Trees field trip is a joyful way to celebrate the holiday season while learning through art, play, and discovery. Fall Field Trip spots are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays 9:00-10:00am, 10:30-11:30am, 12:00-1:00 pm and 1:30-2:30pm. Field trips can accomodate a maximum of 80 students.
