Remembered by many as a Texas businessman, Latané Temple was much more—a renaissance man whose talents and interests ranged from working in the family business, to music, art, poetry, and even politics.

Prior to his death in 1995, he donated many works of art by notable artists to the Museum of East Texas, along with well over 1,000 works by his own hand.

The pieces highlighted here span approximately 50 years—from the mid 50s to mid 90s—and show a high degree of originality, ranging from tiny studies to larger paintings all in a variety of media.
