International Impressionists Immersive Exhibit opening February 24, 2026 at the Museum of East Texas in Lufkin, Texas

In celebration of our 50th anniversary, The Museum of East Texas is elated to bring Impressionists Immersive to our visitors from February 24 to May 22, 2026, for NO ADMISSION FEE. This exhibit was created in Spain and has toured Europe as well as three locations in the United States: the Discovery Center of Boise, Idaho; Arts in the Sunset in Amarillo, Texas; and the Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, Illinois. More than1.5 million people have visited this exhibit worldwide and we are thrilled to bring it to East Texas.

Impressionists is the first immersive exhibition to cover a whole artistic movement rather than a single artist. It illustrates and brings to life the revolutionary Impressionists movement; the most important pictorial change since the Renaissance. It covers the 10 most important painters: Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Morisot (one of the first woman painters to use her own name) as well as Manet, Degas, Pissarro, Gauguin, Cezanne, and Toulouse-Lautrec.

Our main gallery will be transformed into an immersive room with over 1,000 moving masterpieces projected on a 2300 square-foot immersive screen with narration and music. This presentation is approximately 35-minutes long.

In addition, our Discoveroom and Chapel will house interactive 3D panels that provide a clear and simplified explanation of the historical context, including biographies of the most relevant Masters, the influences of Impressionism, key innovations, and the technique and modern art that followed this movement.

We will also have fun sets for selfies to encourage audience participation and posting of photos on social media. It is recommended that our visitors plan on spending an hour and a half taking it all in and you are welcome to return again and again. We do encourage reservations for our visitors and will provide a link for that as the exhibit opening gets nearer.
