Our new shows will be worth waiting for---we promise!

The galleries at the Museum of East Texas will be closed to the public from January 13 through February 1, as our amazing volunteers remove decorations from158 trees, our strong guys move the trees back to storage, and we make preparations for the installation of our spring exhibits.

We will celebrate the opening of three of our new shows from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday, February 1. Many of the artists will be here so we hope you can meet them and learn about their work.

This spring, our main gallery will feature the work of eight Fort Worth artists in "Color Cowgirls (and Boy)." We will have a selection of works from Amy Biggs, Allison Castillo, Sarah Gentry, Kori Green, Pat Green, Sarah Murrin, Ginger Walker, and Amy Young. This group of artists is diverse and expresses themselves through the use of vibrant hues. You are sure to find a favorite new artist!

Our Discoverroom will feature "They Rediscovered Themselves," a collection of works from Florence Koch, Beulah Watts, and Allie Mae Arnett Welch. These three East Texas women were self-taught artists who discovered their talents later in their lives. Most of the works are landscapes and still lifes, painted on both canvases and china.

The Rotary Gallery will be home to "Letitia Huckaby: Welcome Series," a series of large-scale landscapes that investigate places connected to the past of Huckaby's grandmother-in-law, Hallie Beatrice Welcome Carpenter.

The hallway will feature photographs from members of Angelina Photographic Association that are related to the theme of "Nature."

We will be sharing much more information about all of these talented artists and their exhibitions in the coming weeks . . . stay tuned---and get excited for a fabulous spring ahead at the Museum of East Texas.
