Class Description
Class Title: Birds from Simple Shapes Date: Tuesday, September 10 Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Grade Level: 3rd-5th Grade Cost: $8 per class Supplies: All supplies provided Join us for an exciting afterschool art class designed for young artists in 3rd to 5th grade! This September, we'll explore the fascinating world of art and animals. Students will dive into drawing, clay, and watercolor basics, and learn a little art history along the way. No experience or prior art knowledge required! Classes will start promptly at 4pm, when you are able to drop off your child and pick them up by 5pm. In this particular class, "Birds from Simple Shapes," students will learn to draw complicated forms by breaking them down into simple shapes and lines. The most important part of a drawing is getting the basic shape right at the start before adding details. By the end of the class, students will have learned about artist and scientist John James Audubon and his "American Magpie" plate 357. They will gain an understanding of how to draw animals by breaking them into simple shapes to create form, learn about contour lines, and how to add texture to their artwork. With time permitting, students will share their birds with their classmates. Don't miss this opportunity for your young artist to learn new skills, express their creativity, and have fun with fellow art enthusiasts!
