A Forest Insect Alphabet

This exhibition features framed pages from the book, A Forest Insect Alphabet, hand printed and hand bound at La Nana Creek Press, Nacogdoches, Texas.  Master Printer, Charles Jones created the color woodcuts and black and white engravings.  Entomologist, Dr. David Kulhavy provided the scientific descriptions and wrote the quatrains to the songs about forest insects.

Charles Jones, Regents Professor of Art, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Director of LaNana Creek Press, received his BA, Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas, 1963; MA, Painting and Printmaking, New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico, 1967; and D.F. MFA, cum laude, University of the Americas, Mexico 1969.

David Kulhavy, Ph.D., Regents Professor of Forest Entomology and Landscape Ecology, Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, Stephen F. Austin State University, received his BA, Zoology, San Diego State University, San Diego, California, 1969; MS, Forest Entomology, University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho, 1974, and Ph.D., Forest Sciences, Forest Entomology/Pathology, University of Idaho, 1977.
